A certified translation carries a signed declaration from the translator confirming that the translation is accurate and complete, and certifying their identity and qualifications. This is a legal document in its own right. Swiss federal authorities, cantonal offices, the migration authority, and Swiss courts accept certified translations that meet their specific requirements.
We produce certified translations for personal documents, academic qualifications, birth and marriage certificates, police clearances, company registration documents, and court-issued documents. The certification is attached to the translated document and includes the translator's credentials, a statement of accuracy, signature, and date.
Not every document needs a certified translation. When you are not sure whether your submission requires one, we can advise based on the issuing authority and the purpose of the submission. This takes a brief email exchange and costs nothing. Getting it wrong costs time and the submission fee, so it is worth checking.
For documents that need to go beyond certification to notarization, we coordinate with a notary. The certified translation is produced first, and then the notary attests the certification. We have established relationships with notaries in Zurich and can handle this end to end without you needing to coordinate separately.
