cooltranslation was started in Zürich in 2012 by a team of professional translators who had worked inside large agencies and knew what was being done wrong. Turnaround times promised and missed. Translators with no subject expertise assigned to technical documents. Clients given no way to know whether the output was actually good.

We work with a network of over 80 translators, all of them native speakers of their target language. Legal translators are trained lawyers. Technical translators have engineering backgrounds. Medical translators have clinical experience. The subject knowledge matters as much as the language knowledge.

Zürich puts us at the centre of a genuinely multilingual market. Switzerland has four official languages and a business community that regularly operates in German, French, Italian, and English simultaneously. We understand what that means: a contract negotiated in German that needs to hold up in French-speaking Romandy. A product manual that must read correctly to Swiss German, Swiss French, and Swiss Italian audiences at once.

Everything is delivered digitally. Documents come in, translated documents go out. We work with all standard formats: Word, PDF, InDesign, XLIFF, PO files, and most CMS export formats.
